Firstly mini has not reached version 1 yet and is still very experimental. I spent all my allocated time on mini last week doing bug fixes. I should be updating the files again later this week with a new more robust version.
Mini was intended to be a complete alternative to the user interface provided by OpenRS.
OpenRS is a complete website with navigation, themes, SEO articles and reviews of course. This was fine if you do not already have an exisitng website. What mini is intended to do is allow the flexible framework behind OpenRS to be used on an existing site. It provides just enough functionality to dip into and out of the OpenRS database.
I have tried to add additional php code to the supplied OpenRS templates but it breaks the template every time. Admin may know how to add extra code and with that piece of knowledge we can merge mini into an OpenRS site. Mini was not intended to be used that way though.
The only good reason I can think of for wanting to use mini if you are using a full version of OpenRS is because you want to have user submitted reviews. If that is the case I would start by putting a link on your page (by editing the template) saying something like "Why not write your own review" and link that to a php file and have it open in its own window (maybe a javascript popup?)
The minimum code you would need in the new page would be similar to the code above...
<?php
include "../review/mini/ors_mini_conf.inc.php";
?>
<html>
<head>
<?php include ($install_path . "mini/header.inc.php"); ?>
</head>
<body>
<?php
include ($install_path . "mini/user_review.inc.php");
?>
</body>
</html>
... you would have to save that as a php file and add whatever additional explanatory content and styling as needed to make it look like a natural part of your site.
You will need to:
i) edit ors_mini_conf.inc.php and make sure that you have the correct database settings
ii) make sure that the path to ors_mini_conf.inc.php was correct in the second line.
iii) edit any bits of text in user_review.inc.php that do not work for your site.
I have never done this and the above is pure theory but it would be interesting to see if it works. I would not do this on a live website. I am developing mini in a folder on a live website just so people can see the current state of the project and how I envisage it being used. If you have a look at http://www.compareholidaymoney.com/rv_test/ you can see that the page looks nothing like a standard OpenRS website.
